I was inspired to write this bit last year when I was vacationing in the South of France! Yes, I never thought I would be there, having it all. I had a dream job, I had time off, and I was making enough money to do the luxury travel I wanted.
Do you work because you are doing the thing that you’re most passionate about OR does you work allow you the time, resources etc. to do what you are passionate about?
There is no right answer, just what is right for you. The danger is when we allow a career or job to infiltrate our lives and make us unhappy even though that job is only enabling you to spend time doing the things you love. If your career is affecting you this way, it’s time to re-evaluate your strategy. Maybe you do consider taking on a career that creates pure joy for you. Maybe you stay in the same career and remember that no job had the power to make you unhappy or unworthy.
Every minute and hour that you spend working should be with this kind of clarity. When we become clear about who, what and why we are working, joy will automatically follow. But when we forget what our original goal was, then frustrations set in.
This is why a Career Vision is so important for success.
